An Indonesian Airliner carrying 54 passengers crashes in remote side of Papua. The Trigana Air flight which took off from Sentani airport in Jayapura at 14:21 and headed to the town of Oksibil lost contact with the ground before the crash. The crash site was discovered by the villagers who informed the authorities. It is still unclear if there were survivors while the families of the passengers waited for news about their loved ones. Asian continent has suffered serious plane crashes last year including the still missing MH370 and the AirAsia Airliner that crashed into the Java Sea. After four Indonesian Airliners, others are in the EU blacklist of banned carriers.

In reaction to the annual US-South Korea military exercise scheduled for August 17 to 28, North Korea has threatened fire and brimstone that it would be nothing shot of an all-out war if Seoul did not cancel the plans and also stop her anti Pyongyang campaign along their joint border. North Korea condemned the exercise and called it a war rehearsal. An unnamed spokesman for the National Defense Commission in North Korea threatened to take "the strongest military counteraction." He bragged: "The DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) is the invincible power equipped with both the latest offensive and defensive means unknown to the world, including nuclear deterrence."

The Colombian Pop Star whose Hip Don't Lie, Shakira is set to voice a Disney's animation character in the company’s upcoming animal-themed animated flick, Zootopia. The unmistakable unique voice of the Pop star and singer of "Can't Remember To Forget You," explains why Disney tipped her for the role. Shakira will play Gazelle, a beautiful and an anthropomorphic famous pop star in the land of Zootopia. She will also lend voices to the film's soundtrack: Try Everything. The film, Zootopia, directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore is due for release come March 2, 2016.

A rhino severely wounded by poachers in the face is to undergo grafting with an elephant skin.  Poachers shot the 12-year-old rhino on Aug. 5 at a wildlife park in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province.They were reported to have killed the calf of the rhino and shot the mother which fell down unconscious. Then, they began hacking off the horns which were actually what they wanted. The rhino is named Ithemba, which means "hope" in Zulu, said Marais, who works for Saving the Survivors, an organization committed to rescuing and medically treating injured endangered species. Marais described the attack on the endangered animal as a horrific injury. Reports have it that poachers killed 1,200 rhinos in South Africa in 2014.  This increasing spate of killings of the endangered species, rhino is attributable to the high demand of rhino horns in Asian continent where it is believed to have medicinal value and also a symbol of high social status.
