Charlie Sheen is a Hollywood actor who starred in "Two and a Half Men" which debuted in 2003. He was cast as Charlie Harper, a womaniser. Perhaps, his womanising did not end in the movie; he womanised in reality and contracted the virus which he described as a three-letter word so difficult to absorb.

The physician was only concerned about Mr. Sheen's substance abuse which could lead to his missing doses of his anti-retroviral drugs.

Charlie Sheen said that it was because of rumours surrounding his health. According to him, "I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about me, that threaten the health of so many others that couldn't be further from the truth."
