America Hoists Her Flag in Cuba Again after 53 Years

America hoists her flag on the soil of Cuba, Friday. Thus, climaxing the efforts at mending fences with the Latin American country whose relations with America was severed in 1961.

Mr. John Kerry, the US Secretary of State described the development as a "historic moment" when he visited the country on Friday as the first US Secretary of State to visit the country in 70 years, to mark the event.

He revealed that the trade embargo on Cuba would have been lifted if not because of the Republican-controlled Congress that blocked it.

Fidel Castro in a letter claimed that America owed Cuba millions of dollar due to the embergo. Cuba maintains that full relations with America will not be until the embargo is lifted.

It should be recalled that the revolutionary leader, Fidel Castro left power in 2008 and handed over the reins to his brother, Raul.
