Prince Charles Nearly Called Off His Marriage with Princess Diana

Princess Diana and Prince Charles
In a new unauthorized biography of the Prince of wales, Prince Charles by Catherine Mayer, titled Charles: Heart of a King published on Thursday, a revelation was made that Prince Charles nearly called off his marriage with Princess Diana before they walked down the aisle of the church.

It was revealed that Prince Charles told his confidant that the Princess was not a jolly country girl he had supposed her to be but instead a vulnerable, complicated woman already suffering from an eating disorder.

“I can’t go through with it, I can’t do it.”

It was also said that the Princess herself too was coerced into going into the marital bond according to her biography by Andrew Morton. That she was told that it was too late to pull out.

“your face is [already] on the tea towels”.

The book also revealed Prince Charles’ turn against being used to market weaponry so that a Clarence House spokesman said about the Prince’s upcoming visit to the Middle East thus:

“The Prince of Wales’ upcoming visit to the Middle East is not about sales of defence equipment and is not essentially commercial.

“The Prince of Wales undertakes official visits on behalf of Her Majesty’s Government.

“The five countries the Prince is visiting in the Middle East are important allies and key partners to the UK. This visit to the Middle East like others is to strengthen relationships and highlight stability in the region.

“The programme has been designed by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, its Middle East posts and Clarence House to make the most of the Prince’s knowledge and expertise, and to highlight both HRH’s concerns and those of the UK Government about conflict in the region.”

The Prince recently visited the region, to Saudi Arabia to pay his last respect to the deceased King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz  of Saudi Arabia
