Buhari Orders Probe into How a Wanted ISIS Leader Got Nigerian Visa

President Buhari has ordered investigation into the circumstances that led to the wanted ISIS leader getting Nigeria's visa; an officer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who spoke on a condition of anonnymity to Vanguard, revealed.

The wanted terrorist leader and a radical Muslim cleric, Ahmad al-Assir, was arrested by Lebanese authorities as he attempted to leave Lebanon for Nigeria via Cairo.

“The reported  arrest of the wanted terrorist is a huge embarrassment to Nigeria and the president has directed that the matter should be investigated.
The embassy in Lebanon has been directed to furnish the ministry with details of how the man got the visa. The National Intelligence Agency Officer has been directed to provide details of what happened,” the official said.

It sould be recalled that Boko Haram in Nigeria has in the past pledged allegiance the dreaded ISIS group. This recent development is a good pointer to the strong relationship which Boko Haram has maintained with ISIS overtime.
