Cholera Hits Bayelsa State Killing At Least 21

Cholera ravages Bayelsa State and 21 persons are reported dead. Osima and Ekede communities in Sagbama and Southern Ijaw local government areas of Bayelsa State were the worst hit. 
Residents have been thrown into panic and deep fear of the highly communicable disease.

Some health workers in the affected commu­nities while explaining that the spread of the disease has assumed a worrisome dimension, stated that the Ministry of Health is on top of the situation.
Investigations revealed that the state Commis­sioner for Health, Dr Ayibantonye Owei has visited the two local governments and has ap­proved the distribution of drugs.
He confirmed that there were cases of cholera in the community but denied that death toll was up to 21 including a 60 year old from
