A Female Sucide Bomber Blasts Istanbul's Tourist Heart

The attack was said to be targeted on a police station in the tourist hub of Sultanahmet, near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia museum. 


The woman that carried out the attack, the Vasip Sahin, Istanbil governor said, spoke English “with a thick” accent but her nationality until now remains unknown and no group has claimed responsibility.

Mr Sahin said the woman, dressed in a niqab, entered the police station and told officers she had lost her wallet before detonating the bomb. 
The attack briefly shut down public transport around the historic Sultanahmet square, a popular tourist destination visited by thousands of people every day, according to BBC.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters he had ordered "the most comprehensive investigation" into whether there was a link to any group.
